Hey! I am Urja Shah, and I am a contemporary artist and researcher exploring gender and emotions through my painting.
Rooted in feminist perspectives, my work challenges power structures, crafting socially engaged narratives that evoke intimacy and critical reflection.
I created this platform to connect with people through my art—to invite conversations, challenge perspectives, and build a shared space for reflection.

About me :)
As a mixed-media painter, I thrive on working across multiple mediums (and often on multiple paintings at once), drawing inspiration from lived experiences, psychology, and the intricate emotions that shape human existence.
I think there is a certain degree of vulnerability that we as artists experience while making art.
This is mine!
My journey isn’t all that different from yours. I graduated with a degree in Psychology and Economics in 2022,
never having the time or space to fully immerse myself in painting. But during the pandemic, I turned to art
as a means of expression and rediscovered a childhood passion. That realisation led me to pursue an
MA in Contemporary Art Practice at Srishti Manipal Institute in Bengaluru, India.
Art is not just something I create—it’s how I process, question, and engage with the world. I hope my work invites you to pause, reflect, and perhaps even sit with discomfort. Thank you for being here.

I'm always looking for new and exciting opportunities.
Let's connect! <3
