This 3D paper sculpture, intricately crafted within the pages of a book, draws inspiration from the iconic Bollywood film Jab We Met. It reflects on the poignant dialogue: "खुद भीड़ का हिस्सा है, और तकलीफ भी खुद को है!"—a meditation on the paradox of loneliness amidst crowds.
Set against the backdrop of Mumbai’s ceaseless movement, the artwork encapsulates the experience of isolation in an overpopulated city. Layered paper structures create an interplay of depth and absence, signifying the presence of people yet the void of connection. The contrasting hues of orange and purple intensify the emotional landscape, embodying warmth and detachment simultaneously. The sculptural folds and negative spaces evoke the ebb and flow of urban existence, where human proximity does not necessarily equate to intimacy.
By transforming the book—a vessel of narratives—into a spatial representation of solitude, this piece challenges the viewer to reconsider the contradictions of collective existence. The textured, multi-dimensional composition invites reflection on how we navigate, resist, and succumb to the anonymity of the cityscape.
